Hi, I'm wanting to create an app that when it scans a picture on a wall plays a video, i am using a app the uses QR codes and opens a link, but was wanting something more fluid, is the possible with the ARKit, something similar to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi80g9WJvmw New to coding and app creation, but wanting to branch out, Thanks Elliot
Create AR App that plays videos
Of course it is posible and not hard to play video with ARKit. However I don't think it is a good idea to build that app with ARKit.
In one hand, ARKit may make the app looks so strange, stunning. But in other hand, it is not convernience for user to watch the video (the video usually is shown in an object, floating somewhere near the user and he may need to move the device around to watch and/or find the best angle to watch - usualy the video is not fit to screen nor has the best angle to watch), the video is actually shown in much lower quality (since it is watched from another virtual world, not directly in our world). ARKit may also drain the device's battery faster than normal apps.
If you still want that way, try to find some code to show video in SpriteKit (SKVideoNode). Then attach that video node into ARKit node to show. Good luck.
