"Failed to capture a screenshot"

For some reason with Xcode 9 and my iPhone X I continuously get the error "Failed to capture a screenshot" when attempting to take a screenshot in the Devices dialog. The only way to make the problem go away is to reboot *both* the iPhone X and the Mac. Rebooting either one alone makes no difference. It will then proceed to take screenshots for a while (minutes or a few hours) and then return to failure mode. So, I'm constantly having to reboot everything.

Has anyone else seen this, or have any ideas what's going on?

Thanks,

Having same issue.

I found that the solution was to force-quit a bunch of apps. I noticed in the console log that I was getting some kind of Out of Memory error when it would fail, so I tried to free up some RAM by force-quitting other apps, and that fixes it.

Actually, it's the iPhone that was generating the memory errors, not the Mac. I had to quit apps on the iPhone for the screenshots to work. It's the 64GB iPhone X.

Same thing here with my 256G iPhone X. IT works sometime but most of the time, NO.

managed to get it working by quitting some apps as recommended. Still a silly error with 256G.

This blew my mind and seems incomprehensible to the point I still don't believe it... 😕 Maybe just force-quitting an app on device just jars it enough to make it so it can take the screenshot? I don't know... But it did seem to work in my case. 😎

Thanks for the suggestion!
