WatchOS 12 beta 1 not detected for install

Installed profile via air drop to phone, and select watch as target. Message shown stating watch will restart.

Watch restarts, then I launch the Watch app on the phone and head to General->Software Update but after checking for a while it tells me the watch is up to date at 4.3.1

So, cant install the beta for testing, did I miss a step? Anyone have any ideas?

thanks.

Just FYI: OS5 ß is not allowed to run on Gen 1 (aka- Series 0).

And I thought we'd at least get Messages in iCloud and 3rd-party watch faces before Apple EOLd AW0. There's no hardware limitation I'm aware of that wouldn't allow wOS5 to operate on AW0. I haven't seen AW3 start apps much faster than AW0, and mine still runs perfectly. I realize that GEN3 can eat a GEN0 in processor-intensive tasks; however it's only a wearable, most folks are not playing video games or editing video on their watches. The Workout-app changes look amazing, and I really wanted to try those out. I was planning to keep my AW0 as my Dev watch and purchase an AW4 for my daily watch. Walkie-Talkie is very cool; however, it seems like you would need a red knob to enjoy that. This kind of changes things. Sorry to the Gold Watch-Edition folks.

... and yes, I mean WatchOS5, oops!

Ah.

That would have explained it. I didnt see this mentioned in the release notes or the keynote.

Would be nice if there were a better hardware upgrade method than "throw it away and buy another one".
