Using watchOS 5 beta 1 and activity tracking seems to be very broken. I tried multiple activities that I do every week and the calories calculated, are way off previous levels. For example swimming today recorded 6 mins of activity with 49 calories burned for a 25 metre pool having done 80 lengths 😀 This was for an hour swim of 100 lengths which normally records about 800 - 900 calories. When I checked other activities they all see to be way off normal levels? Anyone else seen anything similar?
Activity tracking broken
Hello,
I have the same problems with the GPS.
When i start my "Walkoutdoors" app, the gsp tracking is very low, this was ok with the older watchos.
When i start a bicycle track with strava, it takes about 500 meter before the gps is working.
Yesterday i went home from my survival training with the bicycle and the tracking was completly wrong, it looked like i went home with a plane 🙂
When i go running, it isn's tracking the complete run, i mis a lot.
So i think it isn't an app, but it is in the software.
I hope it wil be solved soon.
Today I installed the beta 2. Still the gps is worse. I can't use a tracking app like strava..... It isn't recording anything. Please solve this issue. Regards Doser.
Please fix this GPS issue.
A GPS sensor is included in Apple Watch Series 2 and 3, but right now in WatchOS 5 beta 2 and also in WatchOS 4 the sensor is not used properly.
My expectations for the GPS sensor are:
- to be able to select which sensor to use for the activity (2 options: only the Watch GPS sensor, the sensor in the iPhone if available else the Watch GPS (default))
- to be able to wait for the sensor included in the Watch to be ready before starting the activity
- to be able to see the status of the GPS (accuracy) while waiting
- to be able to force start the activity if the GPS is not yet available
Every sportwatch nowadays supports the above functionality and the watch is still measuring inaccurate workouts because of not implementing the above functions.
Please fix this and include it in the next beta...
It is that worse with the GPS that I contacted Apple care and sent the Apple watch back and lett it downgrade.
Yep, same issue here the last 2 days since uploaded. Activity tracker for calories shows zero even after grueling workouts. It makes the training app I use (FITIV Pulse) inaccurate on that as well.
Hopefully next release has an update
Hello kimcorse,
My opinion is that also in beta 1 the GPS didn't function as it should have.
I had the same problems with beta 1.
Regards Doser.
PS. you are right about the beta versions, it is a gamble to install.
Hi all,
since today all activity functions are back on my watch with os 5 beta 2.
The position tracking works as expected. I had made no changes since beta 2.
Regards Andreas
Apple Watch Series 2, Beta 5 has killed my Activity rings.
Just noticed that the last two days are empty.
Restarted both iPhone 7 running latest beta and Watch, no joy.
I've got the opposite problem. Since beta 5 I am being massively over-credited for Activity, especially the Move ring.
I'm getting a lot of Awards that I don't deserve and the guilt is killing me.
Share your data with me so I don't feel bad as it looks like I haven't done anything! 🙂
My rings are back in 6, fwiw.
Beta 6, and the watch is tracking activity data, but it's not going over to my iphone (also on beta software). I have had similar issues as others in this thread with prior beta versions. With beta 6, at some point in the day the activity feed catches up to my phone's activity app. But today for example, it's 2:15pm, and my phone is showing no activity for the day yet
Ever since the upgrade to beta 6 I get 0 calories and 0 distance for any workouts I do (I've tried open workout, hiking, and outdoor walk).
EDIT: Just noticed I'm still on 16R5334f so I'll try to upgrade to latest (16R5340g)
