Apple Watch software update sucks

Does anybody know why software updates on the Apple Watch are so difficult to do? I am constantly working to try to get it to recognize software updates, half the time it says it can't connect to the watch while it is sitting right next to it charged and on a charger, and then it pauses and un-pauses with no clear understanding of why. Right now it has decided to jsut be paused even though it was downloading to watch two minutes ago. Apple really needs to make this a better experience.

I am having the same problem.

On my series 3 (non LTE) it said it was completed and the watch was showing the time. As soon as it put it on, the Apple logo came up and that was it. I held down the crown and side button but nothing happened except the log glowed a bit more. I connected it to charger and held the buttons but nothing. I gave it and after a while the time came back. I put the watch on and a few times it would go to logo when I press the crown or side button. Then after a while it worked and kept working. Really strange.

Try leaving your phone with the display set to NEVER turn off. I’ve found if the display on the phone turns off (I.e. Goes to sleep, the update will go to sleep too).
