stuck while pairing appleTV and xcode

I've been trying lots of times to connect my xcode with AppleTV wirelessly.


I could input PIN code shown on Apple TV for pairing to xcode,

and then xcode comes stuck with the message "setting up appletv name." and a loading image.


I googled again and again and found some had the same situation with me.

I've already done the following things.

- reset AppleTV

- completely remove xcode and reinstall it

- reboot AppleTV, xcode, MacOS


Here is my environment.

AppleTV A1842 tvOS 11.4.1

xcode v9.4.1

MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6

After several more times of rebooting and reinstalling, suddenly it worked.

Spent a couple of hours dealing with this issue, and what helped me was toggling my computer's wifi off and on again.

  • +1 on toggling the Mac's wifi off then on again. My Apple TV immediately paired on re-enabling wifi.

  • This worked for me as well. Though I toggled from Off to On then back to Off and suddenly the paring worked.
