In looking through the forums, there are a lot of questions that have over 50 views, no comments, and no feedback of any type.

Why isn't there some form of closure of open items? Why would people come here instead of SO?

Joe

Forums are dev-to-dev mainly. Moderation/noise control is bare bones. Apple staffers participate on their own time, and seem to spend more of it on SO than they do here, so...

If you want to see more closed, then step up and help answer 😉

Note there's no ads on Dev Forum.

This may explain that, wrt SO.

Really good point. Without it, this is really just overhead to apple.

Do you think SO has a superior support product to apple?

Accepted Answer

devForums is a product of JIVE software, not Apple. Apple's dev-centric products are the tools and docs.

Apple is just a user here, same as everyone else, albeit with elevated permissions.

If you want to see a decently administrated example of JIVE's 'product' by Apple, use the public community support forums, which interestingly enough, also has a 'developer' forum.

Around here, devs go back alley begging. Is what it is...nothing more, always has been. Best to align expectations accordingly,
