What are the minimum hardware/software requirements of XCode?

Hi, I have an Apple Developer account and use Adobe Phonegap to build native iOS apps. In the past, I've used friends laptops to upload the resulting iOS files through XCode/iTunes, but for various reasons, I'd like to use my own Mac to do this. I'd like to minimize this cost, so I'm looking for a used laptop to buy. What are the minimum hardware & software requirements of XCode so that I know what type of Macbook to buy? I went to the main XCode website and clicked on both "XCode Help" and "Documentation" at the bottom and could not find the requirements documented anywhere. Thanks.

Current Xcode 10.1 minimum macOS is 10.13.6 high sierra. Note that the current Xcode 10.2 beta requires macOS 10.14 mojave.

Those details can be found via the xcode wiki.

Mojave compatiblity:

  • MacBook Pro (mid 2012 and newer)
  • MacBook Air (mid 2012 and newer)
  • MacBook (early 2015 and later)
  • iMac (late 2012 or newer)
  • iMac Pro (2017 or newer)
  • Mac Pro (late 2013 or newer, or mid 2010 and mid 2012 models with Metal capable GPU)
  • Mac Mini (late 2012 or newer)

Whatever mac you buy, be sure to max the ram, then calculate how much SSD you need, then double that, then double it again. Don't forget to budget for a backup and a larger monitor.

Hybrid apps, maybe...not native.

Good luck.
