Is it possible to recieve an itemised receipt after using apple pay? Currently only the value of the purchase is visible. Is this data available from the contactless card reader?

It sounds like you're asking about the Apple Pay user experience at a merchant location, since in-app Apple Pay transactions are created by the app and so have all of the details of the transaction available.
There are no APIs that allow an app to intercept the user's payment activity at a merchant location.
