Dreadful battery performance Beta 5

I installed Apple Watch 2, Beta 5 last week. Since its installation, I'm getting an average of about 6 hours of battery life on my watch. I'm unable to install any non-Apple apps - they indicate they are "installing" but just die, and the watch eats up battery at a rate of about 10% or more per hour, while no apps are active except the normal watch face. I put my watch on at 10:30 a.m. today; it is now 2:30 p.m. and the watch has 44% charge left. I've activated nothing and have used the watch as solely a timepiece. This is not good news. What gives?

>What gives?

It's a(nother) beta, where power management is typically left out until near the end. Be sure to file bugs, etc.

Hi 🙂

What fixed battery life and app install issues for many others is:

  1. Make sure watch and phone are on same beta
  2. Unpair the watch from the iPhone
  3. Pair watch and setup as new device

Of course, it's not ideal having to set up as a new device every other beta, but it's better than poor performance.

Max.

Follow Max108's suggestions and you'll get all-day battery life. I'm getting about 18 hours before a charge, after re-pairing.

Setting up as new device is the important step here. Before I would go maybe 3 hours until battery was completely depleted. After all day yesterday it was only down to 47% at bedtime, which seems to be an overall improvement.
