Error Launching 'WatchApp Extension' (Beta 5)

I'm getting this error on Beta 5 (Beta 4 worked fine) when trying to run the WatchApp on the watch:

Error Launching 'WatchApp Extension'

Install of Apple Watch Application never finished

When this happens, XCode shows: Installing to Gary's iPhone6 | Performing install actions (with an activity indicator)

I'm unable to cancel, stop or anything.

My only recourse it to disconnect the iPhone which stops the above message.

Has anyone else seen this, or more importantly, found a solution?

I tried adding STRIP_BITCODE_FROM_COPIED_FILES=NO to my defines, but it didn't help.

Hi Gary,

This will be slim comfort but the Beta 5 release notes mention/ask:

WatchKit Known Issues

Some apps that run in Simulator may fail to launch on device.

  • Note: If you see this, please file a Radar so that we can follow up to obtain logs.

You can file a radar here: https://bugreport.apple.com/

Thanks Max.

I did file a report about this, but was hoping for a work around while waiting.

I found a way to run the apps:

1. Use the Watch app on the iPhone to turn off showing the app on the watch (uninstalls it).

2. Run your iPhone app on the iPhone and quit after it's running.

3. Use the Watch app on the iPhone to turn on showing the app on the watch (installs it).

At this point, you should be able to run the app on either device and it should be able to communicate between the two apps.

This has worked on two apps I haven't been able to get working since Beta 5 came out.

This only worked once for each app! It's back to not running on the watch :-(

Should we file a radar if we're seeing this in the Simulator, too?

I tried this in beta 5 and today's beta 6. Still can't get the app to work in the Watch simulator.
