I also have heard of others using virtual machines to host MacOSX but I've never taken a good look at this either. At first, I thought Macs were expensive (as a PC owner for many years) but when looking at all the costs of replacing machines, virus cleanup, and frustration with performance, I eventually realized it was cheaper to buy a Mac. So I did, and I still have the first machine I bought in 2004 (my wife is using it right now), and it works perfectly fine.
