battery life

Anyone else having the same issue? I wore the watch for 4 hours today and the battery was dead?

Hi Pureitek,

What fixed battery life and various assorted issues for others was to:

  1. Unpair the watch from the iPhone
  2. Re-Pair watch and setup as new device

Of course, it's not ideal having to do this, but it's better than poor performance and short battery life. 🙂

Max.

yes it's crazy Bad I'm usually at 40% at 6:30 pm I'm at 9% now. It's drawing twice as fast as the last Beta. I hardly even used my watch today so it was a light day too.

Has not worked. I already unpaired the watch from the phone and paired it again as a new device.. The battery drains in less than one day without using the apps on the watch. Only receiving a few notifications in the last hours. With 1.0 and 1.0.1 I had nearly always about 40 hours so that I charged the watch every two days only. With beta 5 the battery drain was not so good but it was much better compared to betas 1-4. Beta 5 provided us 1 1/2 days. Now with the GM the high battery drain from the previous betas seems to be back.

Did you do this since updating both devices to GM? The OP has already done that but it is an important preliminary.

It won't help everybody - there'll likely be a few cases where something has gone wrong with iOS on the phone that causes it to endlessly loop some kind of exchange with the watch.

my bettery life e bad too

Yes both devices have the GM installed.

But have you set up as new device after installing both GMs?

I have 2 Apple Watches and both are draining battery like crazy. I will try the un-pair, pair again. This better not be the release to the public next week or there will be anarchy.

Yes the watch has been also unpaired and reconnected as a new device. This has not changed anything. Also I logged of from iCloud and logged in again to see if this can be the problem (you remember the old problem we had with iMessage). All these does not work. There seems to be something wrong with Watch OS 2 GM.

Yes. The problem for me, as far as I can tell, is that I have an app stuck installing. I can't get it to finish installing, or uninstall so the thought is that it is continually trying to install and so draining the battery.

I had created a ticket with Apple for this and yesterday they asked for me to debug/ create a log for it.

Taking a profile they emailed to me

SystemDebugProfile.mobileconfig

installing it and.. connect the devices to iTunes.

However, I had a battery drain on Beta 6, but not so much on GM, but I am still testing.

I recommend creating a ticket and help Apple with logs they can look at to figure out what causes any battery drains.

resetting the watch corrected the issue. Back to normal battery life.

Good to hear 🙂

After following the instructions of unpairing and re-pairing I can confirm that battery usage has returned to normal. Thanks Max 108!

I too was suffering rapid battery drain with it down to emergency reserve by 6pm. Set-up as new watch last night and current at 88% after coming off charge at 8am so looks like that solved it.
