Any way to kill an unresponsive app using the Remote?

I sometimes find the need for some way of stopping apps running on Apple TV - not just custom apps, but even the out-of-the-box Apple apps for watching TV shows and movies because they can become unresponsive or not pull down content for one reason or another, leaving a spinner up on the screen and only allowing me to return to the home screen.

Is there any way of using the Siri Remote to kill the app and relaunch it? Sleeping and waking up the Apple TV also does not appear to help. It would be annoying to have to power cycle the Apple TV in these scenarios...

Seems the official way is to double tap the TV/Home button to bring up the multitasking screen & swipe upward like iPhone/iPad. Is it not working for you on an unresponsive app?

Did you try the two-finger salute? Hold down both the menu and home buttons until the ATV restarts.

Menu + Home (TV icon) didn't work for me on the new remote, but Menu + Play/Pause did shut down the Apple TV. That's going to be a big pain if it's the only way to kill apps, though.

Oh my. Guess I need to read the manual next time. Thanks for the tip!
