Cannot select language in Language selection of Apple TV 2

Summary

I cannot select a language or move forward from the language selection screen.

The TV is recieving signals from my remote but I can't select buttons.

I have just restored my Apple TV using iTunes. I see a white screen with a list of languages and a picture of the Apple TV remote which has a swipe down animation displaying.

I can use the remote to swipe up and down and move the focus from language to language but I can't choose the language.

I have tried pressing, long pressing, and double pressing every button on the remote to no avail.

What I can use the remote to do:

Scroll up and down the list of languages
Hold down the top right box button to open the sleep screen.
Scroll up and down the "Sleep" and "Cancel" buttons (I cannot choose either of these button using Play/Pause)
Return to the Language selection from the sleep screen using the MENU button

Each button I press makes the light on the TV flash. As far as I can tell, the TV is recieving signals from my remote.

The Apple TV does not show up in iTunes (after a restart) but it does show up in Xcode ("To use this Apple TV with Xcode, finish setting up the device").

The Apple TV remote is like a MOUSE, and you need to CLICK!

Yes! CLICK!

(I found this in the hard way, after 4 hours and ****** off...)

I had the same issue for a couple of looong minutes...

Then I realized that the tocuh sensitive surface on the upper part of the remote is clickable. Just press it 😉

Had the same problem. The UI for this screen needs to be improved. I had no idea that I could click the remote. Perhaps add a picture of the remote (from another angle) showing someone clicking the button.

I had to struggle with this for about an hour before I could figure out that the touch pad on the remote is clickable. In order to select anything you need to click on the touchpad. This is little annoying until you get used to. Surprisingly Apple also doesn't give any clue on the remote to click on it.
