How is Xcode 7 compared to Xcode 6

Hi - I'm mid development on multiple projects rightnow and would like to avoid destabilizing my toolchain very badly. Been browsing the forums... I am getting the impression that Xcode 7 has some usability problems rightnow. Is that accurate, or am I reading too much into the forum topics? Would very much appreciate if someone give me some insights?

thanks,

I'm not sure you're going to get more than anecdotal advice. I haven't had any significant problems installing or using 7, but I have not installed any of the El Capitan betas and I don't have any very large projects. Using Mid-2012 MacBook Pro Retina, 16GB RAM, 750GB SSD, NVIDIA graphics. However, as you mentioned, some others have had some problems. Remember, if you are doing Swift development, you'll have to convert to Swift 2 if you move to 7. Also, 7 doesn't appear to be able to run the iOS 7.1 simulator.

7 is fine for me...no glaring issues compared to 6.

Always a possibility. Especially given that the vast majority don't chime in with contentment when they're otherwise busy working, etc.

Point is, you may have issues, but without a blanket cry of foul over 7, as an example, they are typically specific to your environment, and not something that might be easily laid at the feet of the current toolset, which means you are facing a bit more troublesome troubleshooting.

Best way to deal with scenario is to baseline your IDE (perhaps make a test user account on your computer), then methodically introduce whichever variables apply to your workflow and coding in steps until you can hopefully stumble into one or more triggers, at which point you can then scan the forums with a bit more specificity and targeted requests for help, etc.

Still no joy, file bug reports and try to hold out for the next version of Xcode.

I'd wait - it's been a nightmare for me. I'm fighting with a major bug right now and I'm dead in the water. No problems before updating, now I'm pulling my hair out in large clumps, and there's not much left. I'd wait until you're finished. I'm thankful I waited until I finished my last project, or I'd be in a world of hurt. Just my two cents.
