Xcode 7.0.1 install won't download iOS9 Documentation

A prior install of a XCode7-beta was inadvertently cancelled during the download in progress of the iOS documentation (via Preferences > Downloads) causing it to be falsely checked as "installed" there. However, use of either Quick Help or Documentation and API Reference DOES NOT access the iOS9 documentation (e.g. the unwindForSegue method is not there), instead only the iOS 8.x documentation is accessible (from previous XCode 6.4 install?)

I've now installed the (registered developer) release version of XCode 7.0.1 over the prior betas, hoping what behaves like a stale-link/cache problem would be cleared up- it's not. Again Preferences > Downloads is checked for iOS9 Documentation indicating it's installed. Opening the Xcode app indicates the file exists com.apple.adc.docuForSeguementation.iOS.docset with a date of August 31, 2015 9:27 PM (corresponding to XCode 7.0.1?), but use of either Quick Help or Documentation and API Reference yields results (no errors mind you) consistent with iOS 8.x.

I've deleted and reinstalled XCode 7.0.1 with the same maddening results.

Not sure what that means. The betas are normally installed with a different naming scheme. Release versions normally install over themselves.

Or have you been juggling names for both? If so, that may have something to do w/the current IDE state/issues.

One can see if the actual download file is there.

2 ways -

• Open Disc Utility, left side panel would have the .DMG for each documentation set that was down loaded.

If you see one (or more there), select it, and look at the bottom of the right hand pane, one can see the link to where the file is located in Finder.

• Look in this location

-/Library/Caches/com.apple.dt.Xcode/Downloads/com.apple.adc.documentation.Xcode-700.10.dmg

if it's there, you may be able to get Xcode 7.0.1 to connect to it, in Xcode > Preferences > Downloads

Checkmark indicates Xcode thins its there and connected.

⬇️ means Xcode does Not think its downloaded- so you might want to delete a partially downloaded file that may be in the above named directory.

(If there is a plus sign -try clicking on it to see if it opens a dialogue allowing you to select a completed .dmg downloaded file)

Let me know if that helps.

Cheers

Sorry for the poor wording- each version was installed in a different folder within Applications and given a different name (Applications > XCode6 > XCode6.4, Applications > XCodeBeta > XCode7-Beta5, Applications > XCodeBeta > XCode7-Beta6, Applications > XCode7 > XCode7) as is convention for maintaining multiple versions. No juggling, but only running one at a time.

Renaming is a good way to confuse the MAS and both installers, I think. Not to mention downstream w/docs, etc.

I'd suggest to resist the urge to do that, as there is no need when only running one of each - each being release and beta.

If you do that, and your doc issues continue, then perhaps someone can better support your requests, etc.

Interesting, there is the Xcode_7.0.1.dmg (from https://developer.apple.com/downloads/), and the other 3 documentation images (com.apple.adc.documentation.OSX-1011.dmg, com.apple.adc.documentation.Xcode-700.10.dmg, com.apple.adc.documentation.watchOS-2.7.dmg) but not iOS.

I'd've thought the whole set would be there. I think you're on to something. Nonetheless having installed from that download shows Xcode > Preferences > Downloads checked as it seems to be (per OP file exists in package com.apple.adc.docuForSeguementation.iOS.docset with a date of August 31, 2015 9:27 PM).

Again, it seems you're on to something, but as it presents differently, I'm at a loss what to try next.

I regret I may have given you bad info, sorry. The XCode app retains its original name, they're kept in separately named folders (I should know better than cite by memory). I presume that's what you meant by bolloxing up the installer and file system (MAS?) In which case inadvertantly canceling the download is the only thing I can recount that got me here. Thanks.
