If your device is in DFU mode, you likely need to load in a version of the OS. Visit https://developer.apple.com/tvos/download/ to download the latest version, and follow the instructions to use iTunes to restore the device with the GM seed. This will get you out of DFU mode and effectively reset the device to factory.
