Restarting / force quit on Apple TV

How can I force an app to restart?

To force quit and app: Double click the "Home" button, then swipe up (like on iOS)

In Simulator: hold Shift+command and double-tap the "H" key, then drag-and-release upwards

Wow, that sounds really obvious now. Not sure why I didn’t think of it!

Does anyone else beside me feel like the swipe sideways to select a running app to delete feels like it's moving in the opposite direction? I know it matches the parallax hint, but the movement feels backwards.

Mike

Yeah, I also thought it felt backwards the first time I tried it.

To see how it feels in the other direction, hold the remote upside down 😁

I can’t decide which one feels right.

Note in the Photos app, when scrolling through a slideshow it moves like on iOS (the touches are moving the content around), which is the opposite of in menus and the app switching screen (the touches are moving the selection).

The app switching screen conceptually is half-way between a photo slideshow, and selecting buttons. So, it’s not obvious how it should work.

Maybe because it’s the content that moves (like a slideshow), and not the selection (like menus and the home screen), then it should be the other way around.
