These have to be coming, right? Right now unless you are featured you don't have any chance at picking up downloads.
Categories in tvOS App Store
Remains to be seen. Either they didn't get the response from devs they'd hoped for or they never intended for devs to play a big role w/tvOS - have to say, tho, it looks like Apple may have learned how to survive without them. If categories do become available, it won't be until there is a significant number of tvOS apps, and that may take a while.
As for those chances, they've been slipping for some time now, so...
The only real way to discover new Apps (and even for consumers to know what categories exist), you need to go to search, enter a letter: a, then b etc, scroll down and you'll see all the current Apps, after purchasing a few Apps, the categories reveal themselves in the purchased tab.

Food and Drink 14
News 45
Games 95 (8 versions of 2048)
Photo Video 59
Sports 52 - although many of these are games
So yeah - discovery will be awkward until categories and top lists are revealed... As a stop gap, it would be nice at this point to reveal all apps on the search page, and narrow them down as the search field is populated. I don't see an AppleTV category in iTunes at this point.
Early days of course. I really like what I see so far!
They're here.....at least in the US. Just Games and Entertainment so far.
Seems, tho, that just like Top Charts, we have to power cycle the device or force quit App Store in the tvOS app switcher and reopen to pull the change.
