We have integrated stripe to our application for transactions.
Stripe requires SSN or tax id to verify the recipients. Can we ask for SSN or tax id of users through the application ?
Can we ask for User SSN in the application ?
You can ask for whatever you want, but what's to stop someone from inputing a made up string?
If they do hand over valid info, how are you prepared to protect, store and validate it?
As KMT said you can ask but wether they give you what you ask for you will have no way of verifying it.
Also, it is unlawful to require SSN for identification purposes outside of very specific things such as;
elegibility for credit, employment, insurance, government benefits and tax/banking matters.
