I changed the icon design for the iOS and watchOS app. I updated all icons in the Assets.xcassets files.
The new icon is appears correctly anywhere, except in the iOS app "Watch". There, the old icon is still displayed.
I've tried everything. Delete the app on both devices. Reset the watch and pair the watch again with my iPhone.
I'm trying to solve this problem for hours now.
Delete your app on iPhone, Clean your build in Xcode and Run.
I did deleted the app on the iPhone, cleaned the build and run. Still the old icon is shown.
Try an hard reset (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button while pressing and holding the Home button on the front until you see the Apple logo)...
I just tried to add an icon to an app I'm working on. It doesn't seem to appear in the Apple Watch App here either. I suspect there are some type of caching bug here. Do you know which icon is actually being used on the iPhone Apple Watch App? I put some different icons in a bunch of the slots, but ithasn't updated yet here.

Yeah, I recently updated to Xcode 7.1 as well. I think this was working before the update.
Is there a solution to this yet? We are having the same problem with our Apple Watch Companion Settings icon not updating to our new icon image. All of our other Apple Watch icons are updating properly. If it is a caching issue, it would be nice to allow developers to have a button in the developer settings on their device to clear the Apple Watch cache, so we can test properly without this issue happening on multiple apps being built.
Also, to anyone who has had this happen, if you have submitted it to the App Store, does the Companion Settings icon display/update correctly or is it still an issue as well in a live app?

Question, does the icon update on a 3x device like iPhone 6 Plus / 6S Plus? The Companion icon shows fine on those devices but is missing on a 2x device like iPhone 6 / 6S.
That's a good question. I can test that. I haven't resolved it here yet, but I did try a few combinations of icons and wasn't able to find anything that worked yet.
It looks like no, on an iPhone 6 Plus, on first install, the 3x companion app icon did show in the Apple Watch app after installing the app to the watch. However, when I change the icon to something different, it is not changing in the Apple Watch app. I tried shutting down the app and uninstall/re-install the iphone app and the watch app, but the first icon I used is still showing in the Apple Watch iphone app.
I have submitted rdar:23776561 against this problem.
Workaround comments: It looks like you can get an icon if you have it in the project the first time you install it to phone and watch, but you can't change it after that. So the one workaround is to have an icon in your project the first time you test it. This makes me think that apps installed by customers from the app store will be ok, but I haven't tested that yet.
Yeah, I'm not so sure about that. If that were the case, then it should work correctly from TestFlight Beta, right? Well, it doesn't.
My father, who did me a favor, installed the app and it's Apple Watch component on his iPhone 6. He have never installed my app before. 2x icon still failed in the companion app.
Well, that's not good... Did you have him try installing or uninstall/re-install your watch app from the iphone watch app? There seems to be some interaction with that, but I haven't figured out if it's consistent or not.
