Hi, I am new to the app world and have a app that is doing well in the market. I was wanting to add different languages to it to expand its reach across the globe. I only speak English. How can I localize or internationalization my app? Is there companies I can use to translate the app, or are there files that can be added to any app that will translate the words? Thank you!
How do I internationalization my app?
Translations range from using google translate (free - h t t p : / / translate.google.com) to paying a professional service by the word (say ten cents and up, with an hourly minimum), so in most cases it's all about your budget.
Of course the easier your app is to use, the fewer translated words you'll need. Icons can be your friend in that case. Also don't forget to translate your app descriptions in the store.
Using lookup dicts in your app may help if you have loads of specialized text (certain industries, medical, reference, etc.) and reliable indexed assets. If you care to provide details on what your app does, perhaps someone can advise.
The mechanics for localizing iOS, as an example, are here:
In addition to KMT’s fine advice, I thought I’d point you at the localisation on the developer web site.
