MFi Accessory Specification: using Extended Interface and Display Remote Lingo to browse database

I want to create and accessory that could display track lists on the in-vehicle display and user can choose the tracks from the in-vehicle display or the Apple device.

I plan to use the Extended Interface mode however it is stated in the specification that while the accessory is in Extended Interface Mode, the keys and wheel on the Apple device will be disabled.

It is also stated in the specification that using Display Remote lingo, we can have the option to browse the database on the in-vehicle display or on the Apple device. How can I do this?

I have read that I can switch modes (Extended Interface Mode and Standard UI mode). I was planning to switch between the two modes but I have also read that when the accessory enters Extended Interface mode while the Apple device is playing media, it will be paused. Then I think this will be inconvenient for the user.

Can't tell if you're asking a question or trying to file a bug...
