The default Java install has been the Oracle Java on OS X since Oracle acquired Sun Computer. However OpenJDK has become more popular on Linux installations. Although OSX has a Java preference pane, that is installed by the Oracle JDK not Apple. Will there be a separate OpenJDK preference pane? What will be the system arbiter for Safari and other web browsers, e.g. Google Chrome, regarding the active Java version? Having two Java versions in memory will create a huge memory footprint and will create performance issues on system with inadequate system RAM.
