SKVideoNode Auto-Plays when Paused

I think i'm doing edge case work here, but I have a VR Video Player app, with a SKVideoNode in a SKScene thats being used as a SCNMaterial for SceneKit. Everything seems to be going fine, but I just noticed a weird video behavior.


1) If my video texture is in view on a surface, it will play and pause correctly.

2) But if I pause the video by [SKVideoNode pause] and sets the AVPlayer's rate to 0

3) Look away from the floating screen

4) Look at the screen again and it starts playing by itself.


Is this normal or expected bahavior (when made visible start playing)? Also you can't adjust the playback rate, SKVideoNode changes the rate to 1.0.
