I'm familiar with programming (more into Java), but a totally new beginner with IOS apps development.
I want to develop a chatting app for me and my friends.
I checked several tutorials but they appear to be not so promising, because my idea is to develop a chatting app like below:

It's more alike a "picture generator app" I guess, and the chatting dialogue would be stored in the backend where users can check if they want. But the chatting interface would be like the pictures above. Users should be able to choose from several background images, and also choose the character model, and the text they type in whould be in the big white bubble.
Is there any ideas how big this project would be? I would appreciate any advice on where and how to start.
