I am working on a mobile application and would like to know if there's a way I can secure or register a name for it. If so, what is the process and how do I start? If not what can I do to check and see if the name I want to use is already in use? Any advice or help would be much appreciated.

Add an app via iTunes Connect, choose your name and if no one else has grabbed it, it's yours for months.
Go to the portal, create a new app ID. If the name is available, then it will go through
if not, it will say the ID is not available. There is no way to register/reserve a name
otherwise. If your app is close to being completed, do this now. If it will be several
months, and you create the ID now, it could vanish after 90 days or so if Apple
ever decides to enforce the "no ID parking" rule.
