We manage 250 iPads for our students and they are required to sign a user agreement that has the serial number and their username on it. I've been trying to find a way to extract/query the serial number and LDAP username, by configuration profile or other means, so we can set up the form to autofill with that information. I've seemed to have hit a road block and any information I could get would be a great help.
Extract serial number and LDAP user name
If the devices are bound to an MDM, you would be able to use the MDM to query the device for this data and associate it with a given student.
There are no on-device APIs that allow developers to access the serial number, UDID, or other permanently identifying information about the device.
