Bad forum search functionality

When someone for example in "Cocoa" forum is searching for a term, it shows results of all forums. However if I would be interested in iOS threads, then I would search in that forum isn't it? So I don't want to see iOS threads when searching in "Cocoa" forum.

Please fix that, Apple.

Fix your search methodology. Just because you're only interested in OSX related topics does

not mean the rest of the world is. There are many cross-over concepts between the platforms

and many similar API features. And, some things available on OSX are also usable on iOS.

Limiting to the specific forum topic you're under when you search would narrow the search

far too much making it even less useful. Consider, you're in the Cocoa topic but your question

is really about xCode. If search only stuck to the current topic, you'd never find the xCode

info you searched for.

I don't use search here.

Instead, I use google. Just preface your topic with 'apple dev forums'

And don't expect Apple to 'fix that' - Apple is just a user here, like you and me. JIVE Software is responsible for what's under the hood.

Sorry Robert but it makes lots of sense to search in any portion of the subforum hierarchy. It's a very common thing to want to do.

Real forum software such as vBulletin has been able to do this for ages. But I guess its $249 price tag is too steep for Apple.

OP, please file an enhancement request using the Report Bugs link found at the bottom right hand corner of every forum page.

While I agree it should be an option, knowing how the typical developer new or old uses

these forums, my point remains.

I'd much rather find the answer I need than search under multple topics manually.
