Possible to disable reboot while in Guided Access?

Hi,

I’ve just installed an app on 5 X iPad 2 for a museum. They have the iPads on stands an allow visitors to use them but I obviously only want them to see the app and nothing else (no access to the settings etc.)

I thought I found the solution with Guided Access as that worked fine and the GA passcode was needed to get off the app screen but unfortunately people can still reboot the iPad by holding down the Home and Power button. I know people can’t access the settings without adding the passcode after a reboot but it messes up the display and a staff member has to fix it. Any way to disable the Home and Power button completely?

Also I was curious to know how to disable the prompt ‘Guided Access is enabled. Triple click the home button to exit’ that gets displayed at the top of the screen. Kind of spoils the experience when someone is using that app and that keeps popping up.

Thanks for any help,

Andrew

You’re using the wrong technology. Guided Access is designed to help individuals who need to stay focused on the specified app. The technology you’ll looking for in ‘single app mode’, described in the App Lock Payload section of the Configuration Profile Reference. This requires that the device be supervised, but that makes sense in your setup.

I don’t know if this will help with the reboot issue, but you’ll definitely want to make this change regardless.

Finally, be aware that this sort of stuff is supported by AppleCare, so if you have follow-up questions you might be better off posting to their Apple Support Communities, and specifically the various in Business and Education topic areas.

Thanks for that solution Quinn.

I had no idea what single app mode was and will look over the guides online for setting it up.

Cheers.
