Hi,
How can I detect if a device has cellular technology available ? I need to know it even if on WiFi. I just want to know if the device has that technology.

I’m still a bit hazy on your requirements. Hopefully the following will make it clear. Are you trying to determine if the device:
has cellular hardware? — For example, this would be yes for iPhone, no for iPod touch, yes for “Wi-Fi + Cellular” iPads and no for “Wi-Fi” iPads.
has configured cellular hardware? — That would be true if there’s a working SIM installed (or, in non-SIM based devices, if subscriber information has been entered into the cellular hardware).
has enabled cellular hardware? — That would be false if Airplane Mode is on.
has cellular service? — The device might be out of range of all the cell towers.
has cellular networking (WWAN)? — That can be false if WWAN is not provided by the carrier, or disabled on the device either explicitly or implicitly (for example, when you’re roaming).
is using WWAN as the default route?
Some of these states can be detected in a supported fashion, and some can’t, so we need to know exactly what you’re looking for.

ok im here, heads are gonna roll, i cant believe all the shucking and jiving to answer one simple question. you all are so guarded. the op asks, can his ipad connect to a cell tower. The answer is, some can some don't, depends on the gear under the hood. There is wifi radio gear, there is cell tower radio gear. yes, some ipads have this gear under the hood. Telephony IS NOT a refernce to the cell tower radio hardware, tele "phony" is just that, a phony phone through wifi.
