How to create an App with video, audio and pdf contents.

Dear Developers and mates,

I am very new here and would like to creat an App which I never did before. But I am really enjoying Apple products and would like to create an App with video, audio and pdf contents. Some of the content would be free and some not. Could you please tell me from where to start and if there is a YouTube channel where I can learn to create an App. Thank you so much!

Wish you great day!

Start here:

https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/referencelibrary/GettingStarted/DevelopiOSAppsSwift/index.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40015214

Then search for tutorial sites, such as Ray Wenderlich. Remember that Swift is still a new language and is changing rapidly. Even tutorials and sample code that are not very old may not work without modification.

Thanks mate for your answer. Much appreciated. 🙂

Hi mate,

I have checked their website (Ray Wenderlich) and unfortunately, their videos are not free. Do you think it is worth it to subscribe for them?

Thank you.

They have quite a bit of free stuff in the written tutorials section. I used that several years ago and found it very helpful. You could also watch the annual Stanford iOS class. This year's class just started a few weeks ago - see on YouTube (www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsJq-VuSo2k26duIWzNjXztkZ7VrbppkT) or iTunes (itunes.apple.com/us/course/developing-ios-9-apps-swift/id1104579961). I haven't viewed the previous years' classes, but it has been recommended by others on these forums.

Thank you so much. The videos are great.

I would like to ask you one more question. Sorry for being like this.

Do you know where can I learn about StoreKit, just because I would like to create an App where I can sell some educational videos, audios and pdf files to people whom I am working with.

Could you give me please some advise over this issue. Thanks.

Hi,

Before I would pay to learn how to do something, YouTube has PLENTY of iOS how to videos. Also, use Google.com.

Dan

Dan, thank you for your piece of advice.

I would pay to learn if it is really helpful. And not just for some weeks or months, but I would like to pay for something that I can watch over and over whenever I want to watch.

By any chance do you know any decent channel on YouTube or source? I am very serious to learn about this topic.

Thanks.

I'd be very picky about which videos, etc. I used for study - code, APIs, tools and guidelines change rapidly, so there is constant risk of learning from outdated, or beta-driven materials.

Apple's WWDC is next month, and the sessions are usually released to the general dev public as videos. Be sure you tap them as part of your studies and good luck.
