Apple Pay for Charities

I am developing an app for a certified, non-profit charity and they asked me about accepting donations via Apple Pay.

I am fully aware that donations have to be redirected to safari from inside the app, however, the charity asked me if this restriction is still in place even if they were willing to accept Apple taking 30%? They said that the problem is that users seldom take the effort to fill out their credit card info/ enter paypal data when redirected to a website from their app, even though the users' intentions are good they pretty much give up at that point. However, letting them quickly donate a small amount via finger print would result in such a huge boost in donations that the charity is ok with surrendering the 30%.

At that point, it would be no different than, for example, the developer for Overcast adding a "Give Patronage" button to their app? Is this permitted?

Lastly, have the rules recently changed? I saw a press release a few months ago and it looks like non-profit Cowdster is accepting Apple Pay for donations in their app.

Rules haven't changed.

Apple Pay is transaction based...not for services. People have been able to make donations via credit cards for a while now, so Crowdster isn't setting a precedent.

And remember, Apple doesn't get 30% of a transaction when you buy anything w/Apple Pay. As an example, Apple Pay reportedly collects 0.15 percent of each purchase from banks in the United States.
