OpenAL safe to use?

I came across a post on the internet claiming the uncertainty of OpenAL's future. Are there any plans from Apple to deprecate/remove the framework in any near future?


I'm working on a new game targeting iOS 9 and higher, very tempted to play sound effects using ObjectAL (which relies on OpenAL) for performance reasons, but not sure how wise that would be. Any insights are appreciated.

I suggest taking a look at the AVAudioEngine API and the AVFoundation framework.
