I'm running Windows 10 on an HP laptop. I wanted to start playing around with Xcode so I mounted a copy of El Capitan with VMWare. Xcode is runnin kinda slow on it. My system has 8 GB ram (my laptop) and u put 4 GB ram on my virtual machine. Someone is selling a Mac mini with 2 gb ram running OS X Lion. My question is : am I able to download install and run older versions of Xcode on that machine? Do I need a dopers account? Will it be slow? Does is have the features I need to build rich iOS apps? Xcode v4 much different from Xcode 2?

Yes - see https://developer.apple.com/downloads/
>Will it be slow?
Very. Max the ram and hope for the best.
>Does is have the features I need to build rich iOS apps?
Not all current features & SDKs no.

Night and day. Xcode 2 does not support iOS for starters, then there is the UI.
If you want to build feature rich uptodate iOS apps, avoid that older mini.
