Pass signing certificate

Hi,

The older (and currently unlinked, but still findable on Google) Passbook documentation had a section saying that passes must be signed by the brand/entity represented on the pass: https://developer.apple.com/passbook/Getting_Started_with_Passbook.pdf

Is this still the case? I can't find any equivalent wording in the Apple Wallet pages.

I am a contractor working with other companies to build their passes. It would be onerous (and expensive at $99 per customer) to get each of them to set up a corporate Apple Developer account.

Does anyone have insight into Apple's policy here?

Many thanks,

t.

I was just reading the new app store guidelines and noticed: "Also ensure that Wallet passes include valid contact information from the issuer and are signed with a dedicated certificate assigned to the brand or trademark owner of the pass."

Thanks pmills, I guess that settles it.

Where are the passes actually signed from?

See Attachment 5 of your Apple Developer Agreement. It is still very much the case.
