iOS 10 HomeKit + Apple TV 4 w/ Philips Hue Bridge 2.0

I have a Apple TV 4 (full updated) utilizing a Philips Hue Bridge 2.0 (http://www.apple.com/shop/product/HJE22VC/A/philips-hue-homekit-upgrade-bridge-f or-current-hue-bridge-users) as a relay to control a number of Hue lights. My question is, since iOS 10 is adding a number of Homekit related features including an app to directly control Homekit compatible devices, will I still need the Philips Hue Bridge or will the Apple TV 4 be able to take over "bridging/relaying" function? Using an iPhone 6 64gb running iOS 10 beta.

Thanks in advance,

D

Philips Hue lights use Zigbee hardware/protocol. Apple TV only supports WiFi and Bluetooth so you will still need Hues Bridge to translate between the Hue bulbs and WiFi network.

Note: The Apple App does not appear to have any special access to HomeKit devices. It is built on top of the existing HomeKit framework that vendor-supplied, or 3rd party HomeKit apps use.
