Fun fact: watchOS 3.0b2 can be installed without charger

See title.

Downloaded the update, thought I'd try installing without the charger cause YOLO-LOLO? Battery was at 75% pre-install, received a prompt on the watch that the update was going to be installed in xx seconds. Got the option to "install" or "not now". Tapped install and now I've got the install process working away on my wrist. Neat.

Welcome to the live stream of a potential Apple Watch bricking. 😉

nice hope that is here to stay

Mine won't install period! It says "Installation Paused To install the update, Apple Watch must be connected to its charger and charged at least 50%."

Rebooted both devices already, I presume?

Same here

Are you sure? Mine 'installed' on my wrist, but then earlier today I got the software update notification in the watch app - it hadn't installed at all. It's installing now, on the charger. I tried to install it off the charger and it wasn't having it. I also then had to go back a screen and back in in order for it to detect that it was now on the charger.

Yep. Watch app reports build 14S5278d.

Worked for me too. I issued the download and install. Expected to download and complain about charger. But, it just started updating and went through fine.

Gone in b3.
