ms word - black copy/paste

So I think this happened when I installed 10.11. I do have Office 2011 and the 2015 preview and this is only happening on the preview of word.

When I type something in word and go to copy so I can paste, instead of the blue you see to highlight, the whole thing is completely black! I can't see anything.

Can anyone help?

thanks

I think your only recourse is to restore a backup if you have one. Due to the nature of these apps being installed from the cloud, you only get the latest (preview) release.

There are many problems with this update too numerous to list. I'll start it off and others can chime in.

1. Dysfunctional select of text in Word.

2. Improper display of unicode characters accross all apps.

3. Outlook's display of Mailboxes does not diplay the Names of the folders. If you know they are there, you can click on them, but you can't seee the names.

...

First Microsoft, then Adobe!

Thanks! And sorry for not getting back earlier. I tried a restore several times and it refuses to change. I also did a complete reinstall and it was still BLACK.

As for the Outlook, mine is doing that as well and I can restore that and they will show back up but then it disappears again as well.

This might seem obvious but, since your issue is with a Microsoft product, you should really

post on their forums. It might be an OSX beta issue but, that is Microsoft's problem to work out

since they develop Office.

The "preview" works well enough on the release versions of OS X, but not El Capitan.

Hence, the reason it is being discussed here. It has been reported. MS will not touch this while El Cap is in development.

It was mentioned somewhere that you can find the original preview on CNET downloads. See if that resolves your problem.

Just don't let AU run once installed.

Cheers!

Oops, I forgot the original preview has expired! It will install, I believe, but will force you to update to the latest.

SORRY

Hence the big Yellow Alert warning users to NOT install beta versions on their everyday

critical use devices. Since you're in effect, dealing with not one but two beta products

there is little point in posting about it here. If the release version of Office works, use

it.

wwell the new OS X beta 2 fixed what ever it was... Knock on wood.. It's back to normal for the time being..
