new dev forums not very convenient for casual browsing

Hi,

One thing that was really practical in the old dev forums was the easily accessible "recent activity" that was displayed on the home page. It made it easy to have a global idea of what was going on, and you could browse and pick something you'd want to read or answer to. As they are, the new forums make it quite hard to snoop around and do the same. They make it easier to search for answers, but much harder to contribute them.

I use the "Content" link near the top right. By default it shows a list of threads fairly similar to the old forum.

It's a far cry from a "view new posts" feature like vBulletin or just about any other forum software has, but hey, we don't want to rush into things by getting all 21st century with the forum software.

You can use the links above right....'Activity' & 'Content ' to aid browsing - I prefer Content for browsing, which will also let you 'sort by'. Frequent checks help stay on top of things, I believe.

You can choose to follow users/threads, but it doesn't appear that emails are actually being sent out...yet.

Feel free to use the Report Bugs (in addition to this forum) if there are features/changes you'd like to see, but be patient.

Thanks to you both, I actually hadn't seen those links, and noticed them only now. 😕

Actually mails are sent out. I am getting all the activity on the forums by email. Steps to achieve this: 1. Go to your profile preferences and make sure all your settings are set to YES for getting emails. 2. Categories don't work (ios9 is a category) you have to follow topics (cocoa touch) or follow threads. 3. Profit
