Auto reply app

I'm looking to develop an iOS app that autoreplies an image via SMS or imessage to the person sending a text or calling that i'm driving. Is that possible?

Apple doesn't allow us devs to force "send". The user has to initiate that. You'll notice anything inserted into the conversation just fills the text field but does not actually send it.

I think to do this you'll need to also program a hand and finger that reaches out from an opening in the phone and hits send. And thats gonna take a looooot of work.

Android has had a customizable auto reply for about four years that I know of. Why is it not possible for a messenger app to be developed that would auto send a message. An auto reply text message would do the same job a voicemail has been doing for several decades. Perhaps Apple would allow this function, and I believe people would gladly pay for an app that can auto reply.

Four years ago I had an android phone that would auto reply with a customizable message.

That's seems like a feature for the OS itself. Does Android really allow developers to make apps that auto-reply to every incoming message?

Auto replies such as you suggest can run up fees without the user knowing. I don't think that's a good thing, regardless of platform.

Yes, I just received an auto reply message from someone that has an android phone. apparently she sets it up when she's driving, for safety. It seems like this app should've been available in an iOS years ago.

There's lots of things that you can do on Android that iOS considers a terrible idea, or that a good mechanism for doing hasn't been determined.

Some differences between Android and iOS:

1. iOS doesn't have a "car mode" that generally used. If you wanted to make a difference, file an enhancement request for CarPlay to add this feature, and post your bug report number.

2. If there was an auto-reply setting for iOS car mode, it would be part of the Settings app or Messages.

3. The Developer doesn't get control of the device on iOS.

Consider that Apple has had issues in the past where certain (iOS) apps ran up cell/data charges from apps that phoned/texted autmatically just to run up connection service fees. That is no longer possible. I think that's a good thing.

Android is wild west loose goose, so not surprised it's still going on.
