Big Sur (20A5343i), Home Sharing and Apple TV

I'm not sure if this issue is with TVOS or MacOS, but since the last beta update to Big Sur, I can no longer access my computer via the "app" on Apple TV.

I consistently get one of two error messages on the Apple TV -- either "turn home sharing on your computer on" or "make sure your computer and Apple TV are on the same network". (Home sharing is on and everything is on the same wifi network).

I have tried turning home sharing off and on for both the Mac and AppleTV, as well as logging out of my Apple account. This may have "worked" once, but the problem recurs and only rarely is "fixed" by these maneuvers.

Anyone else experiencing this and are there any workarounds?

Sorry - I have not experienced this issue. (Have you tried testing via ethernet cables? I found that helped a lot of my connectivity issues)

But since the updates (around the same time as mentioned above) I encountered issues with watching content on my shared libraries.
  • MacBook Pro 13" is a media center and Apple TVs, iPad and iPhones can stream content from its library.

  • Using TV app on MacBook Pro 15" with Big Sur, it will not let me stream ANY content from my library.

  • There is a new IMPORT feature but that did not work either.

  • This all occurred in the last 1-2 months.

Any help to me/us would be appreciated!

Thanks

I also have this exact issue and internet search brought me to this thread which only adds to my despair.
I'm having the same issues with my Desktop computer and LG Smart TV. All of my shared libraries are not connecting. Which is weird it as it is sharing all of my iCloud pictures in the screen saver. I get it to work then a day later its no longer connecting. And I can't honestly say how I end up getting it to work. I've stop sharing on both devices check an recheck networks are the same even logging out and logging back in. Then restarting Home share as well as Family Share. Sometimes I change the Home Share name then it works. Then it quits but when I try that trick again it doesn't. So I'm clueless. Very frustrating. Especially when your wanting to watch something.
Since updating to tvOS14.3 and Big Sur 11.1, I have been unable to access my shared library. I'm getting the "This content can't be played on this Apple TV" message.

ALL of the content is purchased / downloaded to my mini 2018 with attached external drive. All four of my Apple TV's are on 14.3 and I'm experiencing the same issue on all of them.

When accessing from my iPhone 11 (also 14.3), I am getting "This video can't be played because you don't have access to it or it's no longer available." This message appears after I connect to the library via Apple TV+ app and select any of the videos showing in the "Library."

Hopefully, this can be fixed soon. This is more than an aggravation.
This worked for me:

System preferences > sharing > check Media Sharing on the left and check Home sharing on the right section.

I restarted my Apple TV and my iMac library was available.

Hope this helps : )
