I run the installer from within Catalina and it reboots and goes to a black screen with Apple logo and never does anything else. I've tried rebooting and holding down option and selecting the installer but it just does the same thing. Any way to fix this?

I had something similar, got my computer back by option-rebooting and selecting my HD instead. The install hadn't happened though.
