I've updated my Xcode to 8.1 and it is working fine, although i have Xocde downloaded to my machine, when i look at Xcode in the App Store surprisingly it show "Get" instead of "Open", do i have to reinstall it?

Which Xcode 8.1? What is the build number? Should be 8B62.
But if you updated from the store after 10.27, you should be ok and the MAS is just having a moment...it should figure things out eventually.
