Recently Updated to The Big Sur Update and My Computer is Completely Frozen

Hello. I'm new to this forum, so I'll do my best to explain my problem. Basically I updated my MacBook Air from Catalina to Big Sur about three or four days ago, and have been experiencing some very odd glitches. A lot of them we're minor (to the point I can't really remember them), but now, all of a sudden, my computer completely froze. Nothing I do is making it respond. I tried the Escape Key, nothing happened. I tried holding down the Power Button to try turning it off and restarting. Again, nothing. I even closed my laptop to try and activate it's automatic sleep feature and it DID NOT SHUT DOWN. Nothing I do is making it respond, and it's making me really nervous. I've had this MacBook for like five years and have legit NEVER had a problem with it. No glitches whatsoever, and it's run perfectly smoothly this entire time. No system buffering (besides for typical, weak wifi), and absolutely no hitches. It's been an amazing computer, until, that is, I downloaded this update.

I notice a lot of people here talking about the screen flickering after installing the update, but no one I've come across so far has mentioned this particular glitch. Has anyone ever experienced this before? And, if so (or even not so), do you have any suggestions that I haven't mentioned yet? I've played with the idea of: 1. Letting my battery died and turning it off that way. Or 2. Leave it alone and see if it sorts itself out. Right now I have it plugged in and am planning on getting in contact with my local Apple Store to see if their people can help, but, other than that, I'm at a complete loss. I can't do anything with my computer now, and I need it for school next semester. I was relieved to hear there will be a patch coming in later, but do you know how long it's going to be until then?

Heartfelt thank yous in advance for anyone willing to share ideas ♥️
