Is it normal that the amount of bytes read for installd when upgrading to Xcode 12.4 is enormous 60GB ?

I am updating to Xcode 12.4 from Xcode 12.3 on MBP 16" 2020 - Big Sur 11.2.1.
I noticed that App Store took around hour to only update xcode.

Firing up system monitor, I found installd wrote 15 GB and read 59.7 GB.

I think this is not normal at all. the huge amount of read GB is deceitful for me.

Any more insights on that ?

It took 3 hours when I installed Xcode 12.4.
