HomePod stuck on downloading update

Our HomePod minis are stuck downloading 14.5 yet the software version number shows 14.5. Any suggestions how to stop the download / update

Having the same issue. Have tried restarting and also toggling the settings and changing siri voices doesn't help.
I have the same issue, two mini homepods grouped, both showing 14.5, but one of them still showing downloading and no way to stop it. Tried from several IOS devices, restarted all of them, including the homepods and still showing downloading and the circle spinning.
both homepods are working fine.
would appreciate a clue on how to stop this.
Same issue with 3 HomePod Minis.
Same with 1 of 4, 3 others finished, 1 still downloading after 3 days. Complely functional though.
Same. 4 of 5 updated just fine, 1 still downloading even after a reboot and trying the Siri Voice and Volume Check workarounds.

Also disabled auto update but no luck.

Hello! I bought a HomePod mini and after starting setup it gets stuck on an update. I tried restarting it multiple times and the same issue keeps happening. It's stuck on update 15.1.1. Could anyone help me please?

Today, I bought a HomePod mini for the first time and experienced the same issue as Guz. Apple spent four hours trying to resolve the problem. No success whatsoever. I even exchanged the mini for a new one. Experienced the exact same problem. It remained stuck on trying to download the 15.1.1 update - and thus the functionality of the device was almost nil.

While I had done some searches prior and during all of this, I finally stumbled across a site which reported the same issue with 14.5. And the solution was to go into the Homepod settings and turn soundcheck ON. Almost instantaneously a new window asking to install (as opposed to download) came up. And I was able to install the update without issue and everything seems to work now.

I can only surmise that something is preventing the system from switching normally from the download to the install - and creating a change in the HomePod system settings somehow forces that switching.

See if that doesn't help.

  • Wow, this worked for me. I just created an account to say thanks blspro!

  • Worked for me as well. And I also just created an account to say thank you. HomePod’s were stuck on downloading but as soon as I switched on sound check, it changed to allow install. After download I’ll just toggle it back off. Thanks!

  • Worked for me. Nice one!

Easiest fix:

Plugin to your computer, and using Finder in Mac or iTunes in Windows, choose "Restore and Update".

;)

  • This is definitely the easiest fix!

  • This one seems to be working!

  • I get this error when trying this: "The HomePod software update server could not be contacted. An unknown error occurred (-39)" Any thoughts?

Thantelius solution is correct

If you have AdGuard or any other adblocker installed, disable it then continue the download. After this enable the adblocker again
