I've just purchased a new imac for my business.
I've had a tech guy try for two days to reinstall a later OS so that i can run my software. (software is $10k to upgrade which is not feasible right now. It's only 3 years old)

How to Install Sierra on a brand new imac? 

Generally, old macOS do not support new Macs. Get an old Mac which can run High Sierra if you need. I guess it would be cheaper than $10k.
