Can the mouse polling rate be higher than the screen refresh rate?

Hi,

it seems that mouse events are handled at the same refresh rate the screen is working with. This is usually ok, but some resolutions on HDMI only come with a screen refresh rate of 30 Hz, which creates a very laggy mouse behavior with latency. This is in particular bad with touchscreens like Smart Boards or similar – we have a board that is almost unusable if we switch to 4K video (at 30Hz), but works fine with HD video (at 60Hz).

Is there any way to have a higher mouse polling rate than the screen refresh rate?

thanks

Ulli

Have you tried [NSEvent setMouseCoalescingEnabled:NO]?

Thank you for the answer – I did not try this yet with my own applications. Problem is that the software of the board manufacturer shows that behavior already, and I do not have access to their source code. So it would be great to be able to turn off coalescing on system wide basis…
